YouNique – Fine Craft Art & Design 2023
The fourth edition of YouNique will take place on 25 and 26 March, hosted as always in the splendid neoclassical Villa Ciani, in the heart of Lugano.
YouNique 2023 - "a splendid symphony of emotions"

A peculiarity that makes YouNique a one-off event in the panorama of exhibitions dedicated to craftsmanship is the actual presence of true Master Craftsmen of exceptional quality who exhibit their own artifacts. It is a truly winning combination that offers the visitor a truly special and high quality experience.

YouNique in Lugano takes you on a symbolic journey through geographical areas that have a great vocation for craftsmanship, where men and women have found ways to transform their passions into wonderful craftwork, standing out as outsiders in their own fields: whether that be in ceramics or glass, mosaic or inlay, bronze or marble, fabrics, self-produced design, tailoring, jewellery, shoes, watches, furnishings, etc.

Completing an already fully satisfying exhibition is the first edition of the YouNique Craftsmanship Award, a prize for the exhibitor who best interprets the philosophy of the event.

Thanks to the high quality of what has been offered in these journeys, the event has enjoyed since its first edition the patronage and support of the City of Lugano and the favour of professionals in these fields.

YouNique – Fine Craft Art & Design is an event conceived and curated by Andrea Peri, director, and Sonia Gaffuri, event manager, on behalf of Target Management SA.

There are two significant novelties of the 2023 edition:

  • the YouNique Fine Art District section, an entire floor dedicated to contemporary art, with 10 international galleries that will offer visitors the works of the artists they represent, created in collaboration with OLG International SA and Arts & Fashions AG

 Fondazione Cologni Mestieri d'Arte

  • two important new patronages: those of the Fondazione Cologni Mestieri d’Arte  and the Michelangelo Foundation, two foundations, the first Italian and the second Swiss, among the most important at European level in the world of the highest craftsmanship.

The Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship is happy to present the Homo Faber Guide and its rising stars to visitors of YouNique event. Rising stars are talented artisans who are building their lives as young craftspeople or creatives who are embarking on an artisanal path following a career change. They are the future faces of the craft scene.

Rising star Marco Lazzaroni, a self-taught Swiss leatherworker, will be on hand to demonstrate his craft and tell his unique story.

The Foundation will also be present at YouNique bringing its Homo Faber Guide, a digital platform that includes over 2000 talented artisans and the main sector events, in which YouNique Fine Craft Art & Design is now also present with a dedicated page.

Our Weaving mill

Lisio's legacy stands out for his precious fabrics, a richrange of velvets and brocades woven on hand-operated Jacquard looms by time-honoured techniques and in the patterns that characterised various eras, from the Middle Ages through the 1800s; he drew much of his inspiration from the works of Italy's best-known artists: Giotto, Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Angelico, Veronese and others.
