 What's NEW, February 2003-->testo Italiano

Students of the University of Firenze (Architechture, Dep. of Fashion Design), following our course of Design of Jacquard cloth in Fondazione Lisio.

In 2003, the Foundation will suspend its
summer courses, to allow for the complete renovation of the premises.

September 15 -17
Vibeke Vestby helds a workshop on the design of Jacquard fabrics and the use of the TC-1 electronic loom. For the first time in Italy, it will be possible to use this innovative technology which enables manual weaving on a computer-guided loom. The Pointcarré textile software will be presented to those attending the course, along with a demonstration of the use of the loom. Each student will be able to weave a personal sample using the materials made available for the purpose. We can accept a maximum of ten students, who will take turns using the loom. This is a rare opportunity to combine historic textile techniques with state-of-the-art technology.
This workshop is connected with the Conference of the European Textile Network, scheduled to be held from 18 to 21 September at the Museo del Tessuto in Prato, a convention which will focus on the experimentation and application of new technologies in the textile sector. <www.etn-net.org/etn/211e.htmI>
