Lessons on the structure of textile design, on its transference
to card, on mounting the loom and on the basic principles of
Jacquard weaving and textile history. The student learns to design
a patterned cloth, from the drawing to the technical organisation;
preparation, application to card, the simulation of fabric also
with the Pointcarré textile CAD for Jacquard textiles.
The design is then realised within a sample workshop equipped
with 6 Jacquard looms suited for different types of fabric. Samples
of the best students' designs will be produced on electronic
looms.At the end of the course the student will be able to assemble
a portfolio including the completed Study Center projects.
Different mountings of Jacquard looms with one or more warps:
liseré, pattern weft, brocade, lampas, brocatel, samit,
taqueté, double weave, poil traînant.Analysis of
weft effects on samples. Historical lessons about different effects.
Drawing of technical designs.
Individual designs, study of possibilities of realisation. Puntching
the cards. Weaving personal projects. Use of the state of the
art computerized systems fot textile design. Possibility to weave
some projects on industrial computerized looms.
